The Energy Commission does not require submittal of information to the solar equipment lists as a condition for complying with Title 20 appliance efficiency standards or for installing equipment in California. Some utilities or local governments may use the Energy Commission’s solar equipment lists during their interconnection or permit application processes.
Note #1: PTC refers to PVUSA Test Conditions, which were developed to test and compare PV systems as part of the PVUSA (Photovoltaics for Utility Scale Applications) project. The PTC rating, which is lower than the nameplate rating, is generally recognized as a more realistic measure of PV output because the test conditions better reflect "real-world" solar and climatic conditions, compared to the nameplate rating. All ratings in the list are DC (direct current) watts.
Note #2: Please note that PTC values presented on the PV Module List are calculated using laboratory-tested parameter values. Neither PTC nor nameplate rating account for all "real-world" losses.
